Twitter is looking to insert promotional tweets in people’s timelines, in addition to the tweets of the accounts users already follow.  According to Mashable, these ads and banners would be moved from current Twitter searches.  Just goes to show that these social media sites are in fact businesses, no matter how personal we may let them become.
How would these ad banners change the way people use twitter?  Is it too many distractions? Would it clog a system that’s based off of feeding information that is contained, succinct, and most importantly, relevant to the user?
