Established Marketing Queen Lady Gaga Adds Social Network to Empire

In the last few months, I’ve seen tons of articles pointing to Lady Gaga as a model for connecting with fans (online and off) and generating brand loyalty. And yesterday it was announced she had teamed up with a Palo Alto-based startup to apply here savvy to a new venture. The image-based social network takes cues from up-and-comers Pinterest (who have had a huge affect on web design) and Reddit. Based on her track record, I am sure it will be successful.

Hubspot was so impressed by Gaga, they spent a whole article outlining her “lessons of marketing greatness” and a Fast Company article titled “Brand This Way: 3 Road-Tested Marketing Moves Ripped from Lady Gaga” said:

“Lady Gaga has a thoroughly sophisticated understanding of direct consumer communication. She came from seemingly nowhere in 2008. (Well, okay, from the nowhere of New York City.) In four short years, she’s become a global phenomenon. Not many others can claim 47 million Facebook fans and more than 18 million Twitter followers. Her vast reach should inspire even the most skeptical of marketers out there.”

So, no doubt she’ll have no trouble getting fans to join, and their will be no shortage of images of the ostentatious star to post. For now the site is invite only, but I signed up to be a Little Monster. I will anxiously await my acceptance and I’ll share the details with you as soon as I can properly check out the site.
