BRINKmedia has joined growing social network Pinterest! The above image is our very first “Pin.” You can find it on the “BRINK Campaign” board on our Pinterest, and follow us there too!
I first looked into Pinterest for a client whose primary audience is female. I was struck by all the hair tutorials, wedding dresses and home decor images the site’s popular page featured. I figured it was a perfect social media site for someone trying to reach women who are actively sharing their favorite things on the web and might be interested in their own (female-centric) services. Etsy obviously thought the site would be a good outlet for their (also, mostly female) users. Last week, they added a “Pin It” button to listed items to go along with their already existing Twitter, Facebook and e-mail options.
But how are all sorts of brands going to use Pinterest?
Many have joined up but the early adopters are definitely established home and beauty outlets. Pinterest makes it easy to find Pinners you might be interested in, and a decent array of interests are listed to narrow things down for you, including technology, architecture, cars/motorcycles, etc. And they have outlined brands, businesses and blogs already active on the site here.
I’m still playing with the site and will let you know how are experience is (or if you’re on the site you can follow us and see how we use it). It’ll be interesting to see how brands use the site to engage current and potential customers and clients in the coming months. I feel like this site is just now gaining some speed.
Are you on Pinterest? How do you use the site? How do you think brands can better use Pinterest?
