BRINK is a creative digital agency pushing boundaries in web, mobile, social, video, and even indie film.

This is our blog. A place to cheer the successes and lament the failures. To give wisdom and share experiences. Sometimes it's business, sometimes it's pleasure, but it's always through the eyes of an agency living on the BRINK.

Enjoy!

BRINKmedia borrowed our logo from Verner Panton, one of the most influential personas of the 1960’s Pop Art movement. The Danish designer rose to the top of the heap of beat era artists with his refined psychadelic aesthetic. His design emphasized functionality without being stodgy. It was tongue-in-cheek but also clean and smartly designed. He employed cutting edge technology, creating the first single-form injection-moulded plastic chair called ‘The S Chair.

The ‘Geometri’ design, where BRINK found our logo, was Panton’s first attempt at textile and he draped every surface of the Hotel Astoria in Trondheim with it. No doubt the interior made a graphic impression but it was sleek enough to be unobtrusive, and the design has made an impact across generations. It continues to be one of his most famous designs and the ‘Geometri’ rug is still in production (along with drapes, towels and kitchenware printed with the design) for consumers who want Panton’s homes to have a hint of Hotel Astoria’s modern glamour.

Like BRINKmedia, Panton was unconventional but didn’t sacrifice well-crafted design to innovate. Our logo pays homage to his design style and hints at some overlaps in our and Panton’s point-of-views.

How do feel about Panton? Over-hyped Pop Artist? Or modern design legend?
