David Lynch may not love advertising but he loves coffee. He says he drinks seven large cups of his own DAVID LYNCH COFFEE, down from 20 cups of instant. The filmmaker takes another stab at marketing with this “Oh Yeah” commercial for his own line of organic java. It isn’t quite as creepy as the spot he had where he spoke to a disembodied Barbie doll head (complimenting her...

parislemon: Twitter Keeps Right On Responding To... →
UPDATE on Twitter/Google Battle:  parislemon: Yesterday, Alexander Macgillivray, Twitter’s general counsel, wasted little time in speaking out against Google+ being fully baked into Google Search — even before Twitter officially did on the record. Today he’s elaborating a bit. Why doesn’t the ex-Google employee like Search+? This is why:

Microsoft announced that our creative capabilities...
Seems unlikely that a single announcement from a Fortune 100 company could impact a small boutique agency like ours in that way, but last week it happened. Here is something you might not know about website development, different browsers sometimes have different rules for building websites to operate properly when viewed by them. There is a community (W3C) that creates specifications for how...

A New D.C. Office for BRINKmedia!
BRINKmedia is excited to now call historic U Street in D.C. home. I wanted to give you a full history of the area which was key in the Civil Rights Movement, home to tons of famous jazz clubs and is now an up-and-coming artsy hub in the capital city. BUT I couldn’t wait to give you all a sneak peek at some recent photos of the space we’re renovating, so here they are! ...

Purple Diary on TV Party
Jean-Michel Basquiat and Glenn O’Brien (photo courtesy of Bobby Grossman) I wandered over to premiere French fashion and culture magazine PURPLE’s blog (presented by PURPLE creator Olivier Zahm) after posting my last update. Low and behold Zahm also had TV Party on the brain. He shares a nice little synopsis of the show and links to the TV Party Manifesto on O’Brien’s...

The man at the helm here at BRINKmedia, Danny Vinik, will have his documentary featured at the Denver Film Festival next month! The film looks at life along the border-the literal line between Mexico and Arizona and also between life and death. Originally intended to be a concert film, desert noir band Calexico’s performance to their hometown crowd provides a fittingly moody backdrop but the...

Following the App Game
Siri, Instagram, Words with Friends, Four Square, Angry Birds. There are all kinds of ways to stay connected or waste time on your new iPhone4S (or your old iPhone or Blackberry or Android) but new players are constantly popping up. At BRINKmedia we know a thing or two about making and using apps so I thought I’d share a few applications that have shown up and stood out in the last few days....

The Internet Can be Scarily Dense, But this Blog...
At BRINK we are always looking for ad/design/marketing blogs that are a cut-above but there’s a lot of nonesense to cull through to get to the meaty bits. I recently found Scary Ideas and immediately added it to my daily queue. The site has no text to speak of besides the credits for the images and videos it showcases. Sleek and easy to navigate, it is a carefully curated, virtual forum...

Steve Jobs': Media Dominator in Life and Death
When this picture was taken, Jobs was 30. He had recently revolutionized the personal computer and would soon be booted from Apple by then CEO John Sculley. You’d be hard pressed to find a publication that didn’t have at least one article with the word “Apple” featured this week. At BRINKmedia, we started our week tweeting about the new iPhone and we spent the rest of it...

Tweets of the Week
Well, it’s the last week of August, and also my last week as an intern here at Brink.  So, naturally, it’s the last time I’m going to be wrangling up tweets for you to read this week.  Thank you so much for sticking with me all this time, and I hope you appreciated everything I had to say.  You know the drill: August 29 Was that a Domino’s Pizza she just ordered? Product...

A couple days ago, we blogged about a new ad from Burger King that emphasized the product (which is apparently the fast food giant’s new goal).  They now have the new commercial above, which is silly, but doesn’t really emphasize product.  In fact, I don’t really find it that memorable either as it’s simply another commercial in a long line of gimmicky marketing schemes....
